Linda Buchanan, who has already served twice as the mayor of the City of North Vancouver, has launched a re-election bid.
A release from Buchanan’s camp highlights a “proven record” of delivering “major infrastructure, advancing housing, and standing up for taxpayers on critical regional issues.”‘
Buchanan says that over the past eight years she’s been focused on delivering “real results for people.”
“The completion of the new Harry Jerome Community Recreation Centre and Silver Harbour Seniors’ Activity Centre that will open this July, advancing hundreds of new homes, securing new childcare spaces, and supporting local businesses, big and small, are amongst the accomplishments I’m most proud of,” Buchanan says.
While she is celebrating her accomplishments from her previous two runs, Buchanan says there’s “more work to do, and I have the experience to keep delivering for this community.”
Buchanan was first elected as mayor of the City of North Vancouver back in 2018, following serving two terms on council.
In a news release, some of Buchanan’s major wins have been highlighted, including:
- The New North Shore Neighbourhood House
- Opening the Crosscut Bridge across Highway 1
- Bus Rapid Transit for the North Shore
- Strong advocacy for taxpayers
- Delivering a 2.9 per cent tax rate
- Opening two new parks with two more in progress
Some of Buchanan’s priorities for her next term, if she’s elected, include securing funding for critical infrastructure (particularly for rapid transit to the North Shore), planning for the ICBC site, and “continuing to advocate for fair outcomes for North Shore residents on major regional projects.”
In the 2022 North Vancouver civic election, Buchanan won by just over 1,300 votes, with 57.35 per cent of the total vote. Her only challenger was Guy Heywood.
We’re now just over four months away from municipal elections that’ll be taking place across Metro Vancouver.
