You can buy this BC Gulf Island for the price of a Vancouver home

If Vancouver’s real estate market just isn’t working out for you, how about an entire island? Vancouver-based real estate group Unique Properties currently has a small island on sale for nearly the price of a Vancouver home.
Lily Island, which belongs to a group of islands called the Flat Top Islands, has been listed by the company for a cool $1,395,000. According to the listing, the eight-acre island is “located on the north side of [the] popular Silva Bay and immediately adjacent to Gabriola Island.”

The island is a five-minute boat ride from the Silva Bay Marina, which is said to provide fuel, moorage, and floatplane service between the Vancouver International Airport (YVR)’s South Terminal.
With the beautiful (and uninhabited) landscape, however, comes the dire need for some work and development. Unique Properties says that Lily Island is “largely undeveloped” and “offers numerous building sites for a new residence.”

“Lily Island is an absolute gem that must be seen,” says the real estate group. “Lily Island offers a mature coastal forest, beautiful sandstone benches, and one of the nicest oyster beds in the Gulf Islands.”

“The area between the island and Gabriola offers perfect warm water swimming in the summer and excellent opportunities to build a well-protected dock.”
That sounds like a DIY project if we’ve ever heard one.
But if you’re dead set on owning your very own land, or you’ll simply do anything to escape rush hour traffic, then this eight-acre island might be for you.
