Lifesaving equipment stolen from Surrey Search and Rescue

Dec 20 2017, 3:16 am

Surrey Search and Rescue has made a public plea for tips after a substantial amount of lifesaving rescue equipment was stolen from two of its rescue vehicles.

A post published on the volunteer-based organization’s Facebook page indicates that their facility was broken into, resulting in damage to an emergency vehicle. The incident affect’s the search and rescue team’s ability to respond effectively to calls for help.

“It is especially difficult for the Search and Rescue members that work so hard to fund-raise for this rescue equipment,” reads the post. “They give so freely, of their time to the communities to have this theft occur so close to Christmas, which is a time of giving, is a true shame.”

“May the thieves only get a lump of coal in their stocking this year to go along with their new rescue equipment!”

Anyone who may have information about the theft and/or whereabouts of the missing equipment is asking to contact Surrey RCMP at 604-507-8066. Surrey Search and Rescue serves Surrey, Delta, Richmond, and White Rock.
