Meeting people in Vancouver is notoriously hard, but it can be even harder when you’re a member of the LGBTQ community.

Don’t fret – we’ve got you covered. Here are 14 LGBTQ social groups that meet up right here in Vancouver.

Sports

Vancouver Rock Climbing Group – LGBT Chapter

The LGBTQ chapter of the Vancouver Rock Climbing Group aims to unite the LGBTQ community through the power of climbing sessions. Meet like-minded people who enjoy climbing and having fun.

Vancouver’s Cutting Edges

The Cutting Edges aim to create a friendly, fun environment for gay hockey players and anyone else who shares their love of hockey and wishes to participate.

Vancouver Frontrunners

Vancouver Frontrunners was founded in 1983 and is one of Vancouver’s longest-running LGBTQ sporting groups. With over 150 members in the Metro area, it’s also one of the largest. The group meets twice a week to take part in races, fundraisers, and sporting competitions – rain or shine.

English Bay Swim Club

The English Bay Swim Club aims to create a positive, inclusive space for LGBTQ people, especially trans and gender-variant people. Aside from competing, they hold social events around town on a regular basis.

Bump Volleyball Club

This group aims to include all members of the LGBTQ community, along with straight allies, for weekly volleyball fun from June to August. Bump Volleyball Club meets every Tuesday at Spanish Banks and every Wednesday in Burnaby.

Gay 10-pin Bowling

A Vancouver-based 10-pin bowling group for gay men to meet each other. Founded just this year, this group has 44 members, and you don’t have to be a bowling pro to join – all levels are welcome.

Queer Women of Faith and Friends

Despite what the name might suggest, Queer Women of Faith and Friends is inclusive to all members of the LGBTQ community, and everyone is welcome. The group meets to discuss faith and spirituality with potlucks, discussion groups, and “legendary” dance parties.

Out in White Rock

An LGBTQ group that welcomes members in White Rock, Delta, Surrey, and Langley to get together, exchange ideas, and play games. An active group of 238 members that’s been around since 2012.

Vancouver and Lower Mainland Ladies

While not strictly for LGBTQ women, it’s under the LGBTQ and lesbian categories, and is described as a safe space for women to meet and have fun. The description notes that it’s not a dating group, but a place for women to meet other women to partake in activities such as skiing, hiking, dancing, and camping.

A camping group for gay and bisexual men who enjoy the wilderness. The group is also open to nudists.
