Granville Street around Broadway has become a go-to destination for well-heeled shoppers and window-gazers when it comes to housewares and home decor. Now Le Creuset, the nearly-century old French housewares brand, is opening the doors in the neighbourhood to their first-ever Vancouver standalone boutique. As a delightful bonus, the shop features the global retailer’s first-ever in-store café.
Located at 2997 Granville in a space previously occupied by a beauty products store, Le Creuset and their rainbow hues of iconic enamelware (along with their line of cast iron and stainless steel cooking implements) fits in beautifully in the bright, sunny, corner space with large south-facing windows.
Boasting 2000 square feet, the boutique is the eighth Le Creuset standalone in Canada, and the largest in the brand’s retail history.
Natalie Dutil, Le Creuset Canada’s Communications and Media Relations Specialist gave Daily Hive Vancouver a tour of the space, pointing out the retailer’s top-selling items, including their newest shade, Bonbon. (Fans of Le Creuset will be familiar with how compelling–and polarizing–the company’s colour fleet can be.)
Cookware, dish sets, baby dishes, knives, kitchen and cooking tools and accessories line the walls, however the space is also punctuated by a tall communal table at which patrons can pull up a seat and sip a coffee or tea, nibble a pastry, or, soon, take part in an in-store class or demo from celebrated chefs and experts.
For this café program unique to the brand, Le Creuset Vancouver brought in the pros from 49th Parallel to train the staff and supply the beans, while pastries will be brought in daily from Thierry.
The Vancouver Le Creuset store will open on Tuesday, June 7 at 10 a.m.
