A food bank in Langley has suffered a major loss after falling victim to three robberies this past weekend.
The Sources Langley Food Bank had their truck stolen, along with $1,000 in gift cards, and a gas card which was then used to buy $1,300 worth of diesel fuel. The truck was previously donated by the Surrey Food Bank and is used to pick up food and monetary donations, covering a distance of 70 to 100 km per day.
Sources says the truck has been found, but has received so much mechanical damage that it is unable to function. They are still unsure whether repairs are possible.
Without a truck, Sources is not able to pick up food from their donors during the busiest time of the year.
They are now looking for others to help out by donating funds in order to purchase a new vehicle.
