Both Langley Township and Langley City both have had a shakeup in their politics, with fresh faces winning against the incumbents in each municipality.
In Langley City, Delaney Mack is now the mayor-elect, winning with 3,753 votes, beating out incumbent Nathan Pachal, who garnered 2,411 votes.
Pachal was first elected to Langley City Council in a 2016 by-election, and became mayor in 2022.
Mack is a former Langley City Councillor. She ran on a platform of safety, infrastructure, growing responsibility, and promising to review the operational budget line by line.
Langley Township
Meanwhile, in Langley Township, Jay Lundgren earned 18,202 votes, beating incumbent Eric Woodward, who received 15,459 votes.
Lundgren ran with the Langley Strong party, with three commitments: affordability, stronger neighbourhoods, and a “government that listens.”
Lundgren describes himself as a “longtime Langley Township resident, a business leader, a community builder, a volunteer coach to more than 600 young athletes, and a proud dad of four.”
Woodward, Langley Township’s incumbent mayor, was first elected in 2018 as a City Councillor before he became mayor in 2022.
He had promised things like more cost savings in the administration, a “common sense financial plan,” finishing roads and sidewalks, and a new community centre.
