Lab Art Show invites Vancouver to get up close and personal

Artists from around the world celebrate their craft with Vancouver’s art lovers at Lab Art Show 7 on April 16 at the Roundhouse Community Arts & Recreation Centre. The evening of live performances, film screenings, and art appreciation is a chance to experience art like never before.

“Once they enter, people will experience a labyrinth of different styles of art,” explained Gloria Bernal, co-creator of Lab Art Show and Glitz. “There will be body painted models, art installations, swing dancing and jazz bands, and much more. There’s something for everyone.”

Over 130 artists and designers from 12 countries will showcase their work at Lab Art Show 7, with the goal of connecting to new arts enthusiasts. Attendees can also sample crafted beers from Stiegel and Erdinger Brewery and enjoy wine-tasting from 11 different wineries compliments of the BC-based Similkameen Wineries Association.

“Our dream was to create an uplifting event that is a celebration of art in all of its many forms,” said Bernal. “Since 2012, we’ve helped our artists sell over $80,000 worth of pieces of art and sculpture at our show. The show has helped to raise the profile of local and international artists who may otherwise have limited outlets to showcase their work.”

The inspiration for Lab Art Show came from the movie Factory Girl by Andy Warhol; Bernal and her team wanted to create a show that could act as an “creative incubator”.

“We believe that when artists mix and collaborate they have the opportunity to make a connection, and that connection will create more diversity and a unique experience,” said Bernal.
