The Seattle Kraken made sure to rub salt in the wound of Vancouver Canucks fans following a heartbreaking loss on Saturday afternoon.
It was a game that the Canucks had in complete control early in the third period. Jake DeBrusk made it 4-1 just five minutes into the final frame and it appeared that Vancouver would be cruising to an easy victory following their holiday break.
Yet, a collapse in the final five minutes of the game resulted in the Kraken scoring three goals to tie the game and send it to OT. With the momentum fully on Seattle’s side, defenceman Vince Dunn sealed it in extra time, scoring his second of the game and sending Canucks fans home with a bad taste in their mouths.
If the third-period meltdown wasn’t enough for the Vancouver faithful, the Seattle social media admin also rubbed it in a bit more after the game.

The meme posted by the Kraken originated on Facebook after it was posted on a page called Las Vegas Gunfights in 2018. It was meant to show a self-defence measure for seniors. This particular strategy relies on acting wounded to throw off the attacker, only to turn the tables, similar to how the Kraken looked until the final five minutes against the Canucks.
Before getting the win, the Seattle social media admin also sent out another post signalling their excitement that the Kraken were able to force the game into OT.

While it may not be in the truest interest of the holiday spirit to chirp a team you just beat, this is yet another concerning development for a Canucks team that can’t buy a win on home ice lately.
Despite being in a playoff spot, Vancouver has a dismal 7-7-6 record on home ice this season and hasn’t won back-to-back games at Rogers Arena once. They defeated the San Jose Sharks at home before taking the holidays off and, while all signs pointed to the Canucks winning on Saturday, something crept into their game to prevent it.
Canucks fans may not like the Kraken poking fun after the game, but until they start getting better results on the ice, they won’t have much of a say in the matter.
