Kitsilano Ping Pong: New club in town is full of paddles and balls

There’s a new club getting some buzz in Kitsilano these days, they have the paddles and balls for you to play with. For weeks, The Kitsilano Ping Pong Social Club (#KPPSC) has been attracting new visitors from all over Vancouver. According to their Facebook page, “Two local dudes decided to get a club going for locals to come and play ping pong.” After spending weeks searching the Web for pre-owned tables, the club was born.

The Kitsilano Ping Pong Social Club is a weekly event that takes place every Thursday night at The Billy Bishop Legion on Laburnum Street. Dubbed as “The Billy,” you’ll find this place to be more than just a table tennis attraction. “The Billy” is one of only two legions across the country to be admitted to the Organization of Military Museums of Canada. That’s right, these “two dudes” have picked a great spot to host their table tennis social event. Players (or PiPo’s as they’re being called) have to enter “The Billy’s” main level and pass a series of posters, patches and tributes to veterans before making their way to the upper level.

Once upstairs the KPPSC staff will welcome you ‘in da club’ by meeting you in their cozy lounge. Once greeted, you’ll be introduced to the bar and then the playing area. With the 6-8 tables available for 30 or 60 minute rental, all you need to do is show up. The club will supply you with 2 paddles and 2 balls per table.

For a low fee of $10 bucks ($5/”PiPo”) you get the table for 30 minutes. If you want to reserve the table for 60 minutes, it’s at a reduced rate of $15.

At the bar you can get your choice of a glass of House Red or White, a cup of beer or a highball all for 5 bucks. As of last week they were also selling their t-shirts for 10 bucks.

You can reserve your table at [email protected] and find them on Twitter/Facebook/Instagram @KitsPingPong.
