A 28-year-old suspect has been arrested and charged following a violent stabbing on a bus early Sunday morning in Vancouver’s Kitsilano neighbourhood.
According to a news release from the Vancouver Police Department (VPD), the incident unfolded just before 3 a.m., when officers were called to reports of a stabbing on a bus near the Burrard Bridge.
When officers arrived, they found a 22-year-old man suffering from “life-threatening injuries.”
The victim was rushed to the hospital, where he continues to receive medical treatment.
Police arrested the suspect near Burrard Street and Cornwall Avenue shortly after the attack.
VPD identified him as Parsa Ganjizadehzavareh.
He has been charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and remains in custody.
VPD has not released further details about what led up to the stabbing.
While the investigation continues, the public can track general policing activity across the city using GeoDash, the Vancouver Police Department’s interactive crime-mapping tool designed to “enhance community awareness.”
This is a developing story.
