King George Secondary evacuated due to threat

Vancouver’s King George Secondary is on lockdown and the school is being evacuated due to a threatening phone call school staff received Monday.

Updated –  At 11:00 this morning, staff at King George Secondary School received two threatening telephone calls claiming that there was a bomb inside the school. The school quickly implemented lockdown procedures and students were evacuated in a controlled manner out of an abundance of caution.

Police were on scene to ensure the safety of the students and staff. After a thorough search of the school, police now believe that the threat was a hoax.

Police will now be conducting an investigation to determine the origin of the threat.

Earlier today – Vancouver Police have released the following statement:

Vancouver Police have responded to King George High School after school staff received a threatening telephone call. The school quickly implemented lockdown procedures and the school is now being evacuated in a controlled manner out of an abundance of caution.

Police officers are on scene ensuring the safety of the students and officers will be conducting an investigation to determine the legitimacy of the threat.
