Kids' Spa Opens in Kits

Dec 19 2017, 8:02 pm

A new spa has opened up in Kitsilano, but before you book an appointment—keep in mind that it’s strictly catered towards children ages five to 15.

Samaya Spa & Yoga For Kids offers kids the unique opportunity to have their own spa experience with manicures, pedicures, facials, hair up-dos, make-up lessons and glitter tattoos. The products used are all-natural and organic. Spa packages are also available for birthday parties, PJ parties, play-dates and even to help prepare flower girls for the big day. A ‘princess’ is available for party bookings, and she is able to portray many popular fairytale characters to further enhance the experience.

The spa has a funky pink-and-black colour scheme and high-heel shoe chairs for the kids to sit in while getting their spa treatments. There’s a hairstyling and make-up station, as well as an area for them to make their own scrubs and glitter nail polish.

Parents can either wait for their children at the spa or drop them off to get a break for an hour or two. Spa services range from $12 to $25 depending on the treatment.

Owners Mayan and Ken Molland came up with the idea because they’re always looking for different activities for their five children. Mayan also has many years of experience in the spa industry, so it seemed like a natural fit.

Samaya Spa is also equipped with a yoga studio, offering a variety of classes for children in each of the following age groups: 5-8, 9-11 and 12-15. It costs $120 for one month of unlimited classes, $100 for 10 classes or $12 for drop-in.
