Khatsahlano Street Party 2017 set to rock Kitsilano this July

Jun 7 2017, 2:07 am

The Khatsahlano Street Party will take over Kitsilano again this July, with Vancouver’s very own indie rock group The Zolas headlining.

The free annual festival will take over 10 blocks along Kitsilano’s 4th Avenue on Saturday, July 8, with main stages at both Burrard and MacDonald Streets.

The Zolas are part of a massive lineup that also features the likes of The Courteneys, D.O.A., Louise Burns, and The Wooden Horsemen.

As usual, local restaurants and stores along 4th Avenue will be holding sales and giveaways, as well as providing samples and games on the street for everyone to enjoy.

The name of the festival pays tribute to Squamish medicine man, Chief August Jack Khatsahlano, who recorded the history of First Nations people in the neighbourhood.

Khatsahlano Street Party also echoes the hippie paradise of the 1960s, when the street was an inexpensive area to live near the beach, attracting free, creative spirits.
