Just For Laughs brings new comedy festival to Vancouver

Hold on to your seats – and ribs – a new comedy festival is hitting Vancouver next year.

Just For Laughs, one of the biggest comedy brands in the world, is teaming up with NorthWest Comedy Fest to bring a joint giggle-inducing comedy festival to Vancouver called JFL NorthWest.

The venture was the brainchild of Heather Wallace, comedy director at NorthWest Comedy Fest, and she said she’s looking forward to what’s coming.

“I’m excited for bigger shows and more venues and great programming,” Wallace told Vancity Buzz.

When asked which names comedy fans can expect on stage, Wallace said she can’t give away those secrets just yet.

“We’ll be announcing the lineups end of October, early November, so that’s when you’ll get the first taste of it,” she said.

Some of comedy’s biggest names have performed at NorthWest Comedy Fest such as Craig Ferguson, John Mulaney, Maria Bamford, Hannibal Buress, Natasha Leggero and Patton Oswalt. The festival has contributed hugely to Vancouver’s comedy scene, and with this new partnership, it’s bound to get bigger, better and funnier.

“Heather Wallace has good taste, good people around her and I think we’re well on our way to creating a successful event,” COO of Just For Laughs Bruce Hills told Vancity Buzz.

The JFL NorthWest comedy festival runs from Thursday, February 18 to Saturday, February 27, 2016.
