What is the story behind Juice Salon?

I’ve been doing hair passionately for 17 years and I’m committed to making clients look and feel their absolute best. In 2005 I was working for myself at a small salon in Yaletown, and the owner of the salon tried to increase my rent, which motivated me to come up with a new game plan.

My partner at the time told me to put together a business plan and stated that he would invest in opening our very own salon. He saw how hard I work and how much I value my clients, so he really believed we could be successful. We are now partners just in the business but he has been an amazing supportive friend who believed in me from the start, and having someone like him behind me enabled me to build juice into a very successful business – which we had. Don’t take it from me, though. Our reviews speak for themselves!

What makes Juice Salon unique?

When we opened Juice Salon, I knew we needed to have something different to offer, especially considering there are plenty of amazing salons to choose from in Vancouver. I wanted to have a warm, welcoming atmosphere, as well as hire specialists who do a great job in their field and who have a lot of experience. I also wanted to focus on something that seems to often be missing in this industry: achieving healthy hair, skin and nails as we beautify through education and follow-through.

We of course want to make our clients happy and make them look gorgeous, but with that we include the education our clients need to achieve this at home, not just in our chair. We also are a green salon which is very important to many of our clients, not to mention the fact that we offer many services other salons do not offer. Even though we’re in Yaletown, we have a peaceful ambiance and you’ll always find parking right out front.

What types of green alternatives do you offer your clients?

We have an amazing green skin care line and a green hair care line. For skin we use Eminence Organic Skin Care from Hungary, which is one of the most amazing product lines on the professional market. It’s made from organic fruits, vegetables and plants.

For hair, we use PureOlogy, which is the #1 color protection system for hair care. Everything we use and sell is all about giving back to the Earth. One small example is that Eminence plants a tree for every product we sell. PureOlogy uses recyclable packaging and has a long lasting formula which means less bottles are manufactured each year.

Juice is also a green circle salon, so we recycle as much as possible – from hair, to foils and color tubes.
