Vancouver's Jim Pattison is now Canada's Richest Person

Vancouver’s very own Jim Pattison is now Canada’s richest person. 

According to Bloomberg news, Pattison is worth $9.5 billion. His business empire includes Save-On-Foods, car dealerships, an outdoor advertising company and the Guinness Book of World Records. That’s $2.1 billion more than recently estimated by Canadian Business magazine, which ranks Pattison fifth richest person in Canada.

The other reason Pattison rockets to the top of the Bloomberg list is new information about the Thompson family that has long held the number-one spot.

Bloomberg says David KR Thomson owns less of his family’s investment company than previously reported.
