British celebrity chef Jamie Oliver to open restaurant in Vancouver

Good news for all of you foodies in Vancouver. British celebrity chef Jamie Oliver has teamed up with King Street Food Company of Toronto, and his first expansion into North America will be in 2015, with Toronto being the first location.

More North American locations will follow, but with no confirmed dates. One of King Street’s founders, Peter Tsebelis, confirmed with the Vancouver Sun that a Vancouver location is definitely on the map, adding that “The Naked Chef” star admires not only the talented chefs in our city, but the healthy food culture as well.

Oliver not only focuses on delicious food, but the importance of food education. In a news release on Wednesday, Oliver shared his love for Canada and says his North American expansion will be “epic.”

“I’m always excited about spending time there, and whenever I visit, I always get an amazing welcome. For a while now, I’ve been on the lookout for the perfect partner to open a restaurant with.”

Luckily for Oliver (and us!), he found the perfect pairing with King Street.

According to Tsebelis, the restaurant will be expanding at a moderate pace, and after the three Ontario establishments settle, it’s Vancouver’s turn.
