Jack Holiday and Mike Candys – Children (Original Higher Level Mix)

Dec 19 2017, 1:23 pm

I would like to introduce you all to a track that you will be hearing for the rest of 2012 and beyond, on many hitlists. The hype that has come with “Children” has been both positive and negative on many fronts.

Positive attention stems from the fact that the melodic nature of this song is exactly what many house fans enjoy, a cool and funky beat laid down on top of a thick sounding bass. Negative attention has stemmed mainly from the fact that many house fans seem to think that Holiday and Candys have essentially copied Avicii’s “Levels” with their new track.

Avid supporters of Avicii have displayed resentment in this controversy, and feel as if Avicii’s style of music is unique and should reflect only his type of music. Regardless, what can’t be argued is that this is a definite hit, and will be very popular with many dj’s in the coming future.

When I first heard this track on Gareth Emery’s podcast (episode 169) I was left with an euphoric feeling by the way the song progressed, starting with a slow and relaxing melody capped with some great piano work, and then transforming into this massive funky beat that has become synonymous with great house songs over the years. I have great hopes for this track in the future and have no doubt that it will be the great hit I have predicted it to be.
