The Sam Kee Building/Jack Chow Insurance building on 8 West Pender Street is the current record holder for the thinnest building in the world. In 1912 the city of Vancouver decided to widen Pender Street and thus 24 feet from the front was taken away leaving only 6 feet remaining. The base of the building is 4’11 and the second floor is 6ft wide. Now that is a thin building.
