It’s Alive, It’s Alive! The Ritz Carlton Vancouver is Back on Track

The Ritz Carlton Vancouver looks to be back on track as developer Holburn has just applied to the City of Vancouver for rezoning. More importantly the revised proposal keeps the architectural integrity of the building in tact, which is a relief for those longing for a tall building worthy of praise since the Shangri-La under delivered in that realm. The details of the rezoning application are as follows:

  • 66 stories, an increase in height of 16 feet
  • increase in hotel rooms to 176 from 127
  • increase in residential units from 124 to 193

Word on the street and by street I mean development circles is that the Ritz is definitely still in the picture. Whether or not they sign on is yet to be seen. Further, there are rumours that another high end hotel chain is looking to set up shop in Vancouver. Recession, what freaking recession as projects all over the city are back on track. This kind of news must be gnawing away at the hipster elite, don’t worry in no time you’ll be couriering over packages to this wonderful addition to the city skyline.
