A public inquiry will be held to explore the deaths of three people who died within days of leaving Abbotsford Regional Hospital.

According to the B.C. Coroners Service, these individuals were admitted into the hospital for mental health issues:

  • Brian David Geisheimer, aged 30, most recently of Maple Ridge, died In Mission on December 28, 2014.
  • Sebastien Pavit Abdi, aged 19, of Abbotsford, died at the family home on April 26, 2015
  • Sarah Louise Charles, aged 41, died near her Abbotsford apartment building, also on April 26, 2015

The patients did not know each other and homicide has been ruled out as a possibility. Few details are known at this time.

The public inquiry will be held on May 16, 2016 at the Burnaby Coroners Court. Coroner Liana Wright and a jury will hear evidence from witnesses under oath to determine the facts that led to the deaths.

Officials hope the inquiry will lead to recommendations that could prevent deaths under similar circumstances.
