The attack on Istanbul’s international Airport has lead to higher security at Vancouver International Airport.
Acting VP of Operations Don Ehrenholz says YVR have heightened vigilance and a heightened security presence.
“We have had increased security in place since the attacks in Belgium, but we have added additional security in the last 24 hours following the Istanbul incident”
But even with higher security in place, Ehrenholz says there won’t be any impacts to travel in or out of YVR.
“We do not have any direct to flights to Turkey and everything is running normal.”
Ehrenholz says the move to increase security comes from YVR and not the RCMP or Transport Canada.
