Major Burnaby street closed after pedestrian struck in car crash

Burnaby RCMP have closed a stretch of Imperial Street in Burnaby because of a crash where a pedestrian was struck.

The force says Imperial Street is closed between Hersham Avenue and Humphries Avenue in the Edmonds area. The closure is expected to last several hours into the evening.

“Please plan an alternate route,” Cpl. Mike Kalanj said in a news release.

The collision happened just after 1 p.m. Wednesday. The pedestrian was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Officers are still on scene investigating what happened.
