Homicide team investigating man's death following "disturbance": police

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been called in after an adult male passed away in Surrey on Monday.

Police said in an email that on Monday afternoon, just before 5 pm, officers were called to the 10700 blocks of 124 Street after a “report of a disturbance” was received.

Upon arrival, police found an adult male “suffering from critical injuries.” He succumbed to his injuries despite all attempts to revive him.

“Based on the investigative theory in this initial phase, this does not appear to be a random act, nor is it connected to the current Lower Mainland gang conflict,” says the Surrey RCMP in an emailed statement.

IHIT was called in on Monday and will be investigating the matter alongside the Surrey RCMP.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call the IHIT Information Line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
