Police are investigating after a fatal, late-night shooting that occurred in North Vancouver on Wednesday.

At approximately 10:45 pm, the North Vancouver RCMP received reports of multiple shots fired near the 200 blocks of East 17th Street.

“When officers arrived, they found two adult victims suffering from gunshot wounds,” reads a police statement.

One of the victims was rushed to hospital and, despite efforts to revive him, succumbed to his injuries.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been activated and is investigating with police.

“Based on the investigative theory in this initial phase, this does not appear to be a random act,” says North Vancouver RCMP. “The area surrounding the scene will be cordoned off for a significant amount of time.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact IHIT at 1-877-551-4448 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
