UPDATE: IHIT has confirmed the victim of a Sunday night shooting in Surrey is 42-year-old Colin Hill who was allegedly defending his home against a 22-year-old intruder when he was shot and killed. The unidentified suspect has a lengthy history with police and was arrested at 2 a.m. at the scene of a break-and-enter on MacPherson Avenue in Burnaby.

Surrey RCMP have confirmed one man is dead following an alleged shooting in Surrey Sunday night.

The incident occurred at 165 Street and 64 Ave. shortly after 11:30 p.m. Sunday. Neighbours alerted RCMP to gunfire, and upon arrival, police found one man dead.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team took over the investigation and confirmed early Monday morning they had arrested one person in relation to the shooting. The identity of the person has not yet been released and police are still determining whether or not the shooting was related to Surrey’s ongoing drug turf war.

While details are few, according to neighbours, there seemed to be some sort of disagreement in the home before the shooting took place.

IHIT says they will update the public later today.
