ICBC adds temporary locations, extra instructors for road tests
ICBC has introduced several measures to address the ongoing backlog of road tests and to meet the demand for new ones.
The Crown Corporation says that it’s adding 10 additional locations for testing. These temporary locations will be located at ICBC Claim Centres and are being rolled out as follows:
Available for booking now:
- Victoria – 425 Dunedin Street
- Surrey – 10262 – 152A Street
- Langley – 6000 Production Way
Booking estimated to begin on September 8:
- Surrey – 13665 68th Avenue
- Coquitlam – 100 Blue Mountain Street
- Richmond – 7200 Elmbridge Way
- Burnaby – 4399 Wayburne Drive
Booking estimated to begin on September 28:
- Vancouver – 999 Kingsway
- New Westminster – 1320 3rd Avenue
- Abbotsford – 2885 Tretheway Street
In addition to adding temporary locations, ICBC says that it’s assigning 100 temporary test examiners, most of whom will be placed in the Lower Mainland and Southern Vancouver Island.
The company also notes that at this time, walk-in and standby appointments are not available; tests will need to be pre-booked in advance.

Anyone wishing to book a road test is encouraged to do so online; Class 1-4 road tests can be done over the phone (1-800-950-1498).
ICBC has also introduced a number of health and safety measures since resuming road tests. Examiners are required to wear personal protective equipment, as well as drivers taking the test.
Naturally, anyone that has had possible exposure to the virus or is showing symptoms of illness will not be permitted to take the test.
