A sizeable hotel accommodations property is set to open immediately east of SkyTrain’s Metrotown Station in Burnaby late this spring.

Hyatt Place Vancouver/Metrotown hotel will occupy the first 10 floors of the 2023-built, 48-storey Highline Metrotown mixed-use tower at 4498 Beresford St.

There will be a total of 159 guest rooms, with guests provided with free WiFi and 24/7 fitness gym access.

The property will also offer in-hotel food and beverage options, including a self-serve hot breakfast bar option for a surcharge, the “SoBu: The Social Corner” lounge restaurant, and a 24/7 convenience store.

The hotel is conveniently located not only next to the SkyTrain station and major bus exchange, but also near the Metropolis at Metrotown mall.

Upon inquiry, Hyatt Hotels Corporation told Daily Hive Urbanized this Metrotown property is expected to open no later than June 10, 2026 — just in time for the 2026 FIFA World Cup matches held in Vancouver.

Currently, as of the time of writing, the hotel is accepting bookings as early as July 1, 2026. Earlier this year, bookings were previously limited to no earlier than September 2026, with bookings incrementally expanded as preparations for the hotel’s opening progressed.

The first 10 floors of the tower, spanning about 75,000 sq. ft., were originally intended to be used as office space. However, due to the sustained weakness in the office space market, developer Thind Properties changed its strategy and received the City of Burnaby’s approval to pivot the office space to hotel uses.

Within the upper levels of the tower, directly above the hotel volume, are the bulk of the project’s 327 strata market ownership condominium homes. Chris Dikeakos Architects is the project’s lead design firm.

Shortly after receiving the municipal government’s approval on the revised approach, Thind Properties sold the tower’s hotel volume to Mundi Hotel Enterprises in a deal worth over $47 million, as a measure to reduce the developer’s significant outstanding debt, including about $100 million associated with this particular tower project.

Mundi currently operates 11 hotels across British Columbia, including Coast Lonsdale Quay Hotel — the boutique hotel directly above the Lonsdale Quay market — on the North Vancouver waterfront. Hyatt Place Vancouver/Metrotown hotel and the 2027 opening of Hyatt Place Kamloops hotel will grow Mundi’s hotel portfolio to 13 properties.

Last month, the new Homewood Suites by Hilton Surrey hotel opened within the top nine floors of the newly-built 25-storey, mixed-use office and hotel tower of City Centre 4 at 9686 137 St. — near SkyTrain’s King George Station and Surrey Memorial Hospital in Surrey City Centre. Project developer Lark Group partnered with Vancouver Canucks owner Aquilini Group to operate the hotel portion of the tower, offering 189 suites designed for long-term stays.
