Hullo Ferries partners with nearby restaurant to create a lounge for Vancouver terminal

Looking for a comfortable indoor spot to wait for your Hullo Ferries sailing from downtown Vancouver — especially on a cold, wet day or when you’re in need of a bite to eat?

Unlike its Nanaimo terminal, Hullo Ferries does not have a purpose-built indoor passenger lounge at its Vancouver location. However, the company has introduced a convenient alternative through a partnership with Mahony’s Tavern that provides the same functions.

Located along the seawall promenade at the Vancouver Convention Centre West, Mahony’s is about a 200-metre walk (roughly three minutes) from the Coal Harbour ferry berth. All Hullo passengers can access a co-branded lounge space inside the tavern, offering a warm and relaxed place to sit, dine, and wait before or after their sailing.

The lounge offering within the location’s longtime restaurant is open daily from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. and features a special menu for Hullo Ferries’ passengers, including exclusive pricing on select items. Guests can also order from Mahony’s full menu during extended hours. In addition to the indoor seating, there’s a covered outdoor standing area available.

Boarding typically begins about 20 minutes before the gate closes and the ferry departs, so plan your visit accordingly. Mahony’s is also located just steps away from Hullo Ferries’ customer service and ticket office for the Vancouver terminal.

“Our guests have shared that they’re looking for more comfortable spaces to relax before boarding and after arriving, somewhere indoors where they can unwind, grab a bite, and make their travel experience feel seamless,” said Xander France, the director of partnerships and external affairs for Hullo Ferries.

“Partnering with Mahony’s Tavern allows us to deliver exactly that. Their team understands hospitality at its finest, and their location beside the Vancouver Convention Centre couldn’t be more convenient for our guests.”

Prior to this Mahony’s co-branded lounge experience, passengers had to wait outside in the elements with very limited shelter. The location is also home to the indoor lounge of the seaplane terminal, Vancouver Harbour Flight Centre, but it is not intended to be used by ferry passengers.

Hullo Ferries leadership previously told Daily Hive Urbanized that due to the lack of available space in the area, they were unable to create a purpose-built lounge.

The defunct V2V Vacations luxury excursion ferry service to Victoria previously used a large retail unit next to De Dutch restaurant (immediately adjacent to Hullo Ferries’ dock) as its lounge, ticketing, and customer service space, but it is now occupied by Rejuvenation Dermatology & Plastic Surgery Centre Coal Harbour.

Earlier this month, ahead of a major change in the fare structure beginning in June 2026, Hullo Ferries shared that they have recorded over 1.3 million cumulative passengers on more than 8,000 sailings since launching in August 2023.
