After many months of speculation, hockey fans will soon learn Canada’s roster for the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympics.
While hockey fans were treated to some best-on-best action last February with the 4 Nations Face-Off, the anticipation for the hockey portion of the 2026 Olympics is at an all-time high. It will mark the first time we have seen NHL players compete in the Olympics since 2014.
We already know part of Canada’s roster heading into the prestigious event; Connor McDavid, Sidney Crosby, Nathan MacKinnon, Sam Reinhart, Brayden Point, and Cale Makar were named to the roster in June. As for the rest, we will know in just a few days.
This Wednesday, Hockey Canada and the Canadian Olympic Committee will unveil the roster of the men’s team.
The announcement will begin at 11:30 a.m. ET/8:30 a.m. PT. Fans wanting to tune in can do so across a variety of TSN options, including TSN 1/4, TSN.CA, and the TSN app.

There have been plenty of predictions and questions as to who will wind up making this roster. Many have their eyes on some young talent, such as Macklin Celebrini and Connor Bedard, while some believe 18-year-old defenceman Matthew Schaefer could earn a spot.
There are also a ton of questions surrounding goaltending. Hockey Canada chose to invite just three goalies to its orientation camp over the summer: Jordan Binnington, Adin Hill, and Sam Montembeault. Unfortunately, both Binnington and Montembeault have struggled, while Hill has been limited to just five games due to injury.
As a result of injuries and inconsistent play, many think the door could be open for the likes of Logan Thompson and perhaps Darcy Kuemper to earn a spot on this roster after failing to be selected for 4 Nations.
Regardless of who gets selected, Canada is considered the favourite heading into this event after winning gold at 4 Nations. Canada has won each of the past two Olympics in which NHLers have attended, coming back in 2014 and 2010.
