The Vancouver Canucks take on the San Jose Sharks tonight in what will be both teams’ final game before the NHL’s Christmas break.
But fans looking to tune into the pre-holiday action may find themselves frustrated as they surf through their TV guides.
That’s because tonight’s game is the first Canucks regular season game in over a decade not available on traditional television.
The only place to watch the Monday night matchup is via Amazon’s Prime Video streaming service, which is included with every Prime membership. This membership comes with benefits like free shipping on most items from the online store, along with other exclusive perks.
The subscription is currently priced at $9.99 per month or $99 annually, and a 30-day free trial is available.
Sportsnet and CBC’s Saturday broadcasts typically cover Vancouver’s entire 82-game regular-season schedule. However, that’s not the case for the 2024-25 season.
Tonight’s game is the first of four Canucks matchups this season that will be available exclusively through the streaming platform. The complete list is provided below.
- December 23: San Jose Sharks @ Canucks (6 pm PT)
- January 6: Canucks @ Montreal Canadiens (4:30 pm PT)
- January 27: Canucks @ St. Louis Blues (4:30 pm PT)
- March 24: Canucks @ New Jersey Devils (4:30 pm PT)
With plenty of buzz surrounding the team as reports of drama between Canucks forwards Elias Pettersson and J.T. Miller pick up steam, the Canucks will look to snap a three-game losing streak tonight.
Despite the recent skid, they’re still clinging to a playoff spot, sitting fourth in the Pacific Division with a 16-10-7 record.
The Sharks, on the other hand, remain one of the league’s worst teams. They are anchored at the bottom of the standings with an 11-19-6 record.
Puck drop at Rogers Arena is set for 6 pm PT.
