How much money Toronto Blue Jays players will make if they win the World Series

The Toronto Blue Jays are one win away from etching themselves into baseball history, which would come with a sweet little pay bump.

If the Blue Jays win the World Series, each player will receive a bonus as another reward on top of being a champion. This comes from money pooled together from 60 per cent of the ticket sales through the minimum amount of games played in the postseason.

The World Series winning team is allotted 36 per cent of this pool, while the runner-up is eligible to take 24 per cent. The number for this year is currently unknown, but last year’s champion, the LA Dodgers, received a record $46.5 million out of a pool of $129.1 million.

This resulted in each player on the Dodgers being awarded $477,441 for winning the World Series.

So, what does this mean for each player?

Well, for some of the team’s higher-paid players, a bonus of $477,000 will seem like a drop in the bucket. For example, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is set to make a total of $28.5 million this season alone, so that potential bonus will only make up a measly 1.7 per cent of his total earnings. The same would be similar for players like George Springer ($24.17 million), Kevin Gausman ($23 million), Chris Bassitt ($22 million), and Bo Bichette ($17.58 million).

The bonus becomes much more substantial for new Major Leaguers like Trey Yesavage. The sensational rookie pitcher is making just $57,000 this season despite being one of the Blue Jays’ most important postseason players.

His low salary is largely because he spent just about the entire 2025 season playing in the minor leagues and only received a pro-rated salary for the three regular-season starts he made.

“This playoff paycheque is going to be nice whenever it hits,” Yesavage admitted after Game 5 on Wednesday.

That paycheque will also be nice for Blue Jays players like Ty France ($1 million), Ernie Clement ($1.97 million), and even Alejandro Kirk, who only made $4.6 million this year as he awaits a bigger deal to kick in starting next season.

There is still plenty of work left to do for the Blue Jays to maximize that bonus. They lead the World Series 3-2 and have the final two games of the season at home in Toronto, but the Dodgers are among the very best teams in baseball and are more than capable of coming back to win this.

The prospect of a little bonus should act as some motivation for the Jays to close this out, but they shouldn’t be counting their chickens before they’re hatched.
