Fashion and vintage lovers rejoice! The Used House of Vintage on Robson Street will cater to all of your unnecessary, yet so necessary, needs for clothing, accessories and all things unique and vintage. This hidden gem on 1008 Robson Street is just waiting to be explored. All that’s required is a quick flight up some lovely red-carpeted stairs and you’ll find yourself in another time-period complete with vintage decor, stylish mannequins and super friendly staff. The Used House of Vintage is a 5,000 square foot playground for vintage and fashion enthusiasts.
I had the pleasure of speaking with Craig Doyle, the owner and mastermind behind the Used House of Vintage brand, who is a vintage item collector and curates the collection from all over the world. Having spoken with him for only a few minutes (he was quite busy perfecting the layout of the store), I could tell that he is passionate about his collection and bringing unique, high-quality vintage items to Vancouverites. If there is one thing for sure, he has excellent taste. The store also has three other locations: Granville Street here in Vancouver, Calgary and Toronto. The Robson Street location just opened late November of last year.
It was so refreshing to gawk at all of the amazing clothes, shoes, purses, perfumes and jewelry, to name a few. It made me realize how fashion has changed, and that many items found today just don’t live up to the quality found in times past. It wasn’t about mass production, it was about time and effort to make a lovely garment, pair of shoes or a purse. Not to say we can’t find superb outfits today, but it usually comes with a price. I would much rather pay a little bit more to purchase something of quality. Not only will you find stunning and reasonably priced vintage garb, but you’ll also have a one-of-kind shopping experience within the retro-inspired ambiance of the store.
