Several horses that were rescued from a farm in BC’s Interior three months ago are now available for adoption through the BC SPCA.
These large animals will need space and experienced handlers, and the SPCA is trying to find suitable forever homes for all of them.
A total of 97 neglected animals were seized from a farm near Princeton BC in September, including 27 horses and 43 puppies.
“Many of the animals are underweight or emaciated,” Marcie Moriarty, chief prevention and enforcement officer, said at the time.
About a dozen of the horses have been rehabilitated enough to be adopted. They include some who would make good riding horses provided they get a good foundation from an experienced trainer.
There are a couple of horses who must be adopted together because of their close bond, and a mother and young foal who must also go to the same home.
Those interested in adopting the horses can visit the BC SPCA’s website.
