HOPE IS “THE THING WITH FEATHERS”

A Charity Art Show Benefiting HOPE International Development Agency, Featuring Photography by Art Zaratsyan

“The Thing With Feathers”, a charity art show held on Thursday, May 15th, 7–11 pm, in the Waterfall Building exhibition space at 1540 West 2nd Ave in Vancouver, BC.

The show will feature over 50 beautiful colour photographs taken in Cambodia and Ethiopia by up-and-coming Vancouver photographer Art Zaratsyan as part of his self-directed documentary project about the humanitarian work of HOPE International Development Agency in developing countries. Admission to the show is free. All proceeds of the $25,000 fundraising goal of the show will go to support future projects of the organization.

HOPE International Development Agency is an international non-profit organization based in New Westminster, BC. Their mission is to improve the supply of basic human necessities for those in most need in the developing world. The organization’s projects range from providing the world’s poor with clean water and sanitation, helping with development of sustainable agriculture, providing education and literacy programs for children, to emergency and rehabilitation services in zones of disaster and war and reduction of spread of AIDS and HIV.

Art Zaratsyan is a social documentary photographer, based in Vancouver, BC. He is a member of National Press Photographers Association (NPPA) and News Photographers Association of Canada (NPAC).
