Check out a huge Hong Kong festival in Metro Vancouver this spring

It won’t be long before the season of night markets and cultural festivals returns to the city, and the annual Vancouver Hong Kong Fair tops the list of highly anticipated events set to return this spring. As the first “Hong Konger cultural celebration in Canada,” the annual fair commemorates the heritage and creativity of the Hong Konger community and their journey to Canada.

Run by a volunteer collective called HK House, the event has become the largest of its kind in North America, bringing together artisans, cultural performers, street food stalls, and games for a full day of fun and learning.

In addition to a lively market with over 60 booths, visitors will have the chance to enjoy live music and cultural performances on an outdoor stage – so stay tuned for the official 2025 lineup of performing artists.

There will also be social and cultural exhibitions, more than 20 community booths, and murals and art displays by Hong Konger artists.

In past years, the fair has included beginners and masters mahjong, a Cantonese storytelling area, and an area for nostalgic Hong Kong childhood games.

“To accommodate more visitors at the cultural market and alleviate the limited capacity of the indoor venue, this year, the majority of our vendors will be situated in the outdoor but covered area at The Commons,” explains HK House on its website.

2025 event details

This year’s fair returns to the Shipyards and the Pipe Shop in North Vancouver from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 11, 2025.

A representative of HK House confirms that more 2025 details will be available starting early to mid-April, so stay tuned for more to come — including an official list of vendors, performers, and admission info.
