The Honeybee Centre in Surrey is celebrating its 9th annual Honeybee Festival on July 25th and 26th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The city of Surrey is bound to get buzzing with this weekend-long celebration full of family activities, all in the name of honeybees. Watch live beekeeping demos, honey extraction, and bee beards, shop the artisan market, enjoy crafts and participate in plenty of interactive games.
Plus, the Honeybee Centre has officially opened its doors to their newest addition, Fry’s Corner Beestro, open seven days a week. Enjoy a 360-degree view of all of the activity that takes place on the working farm through the large windows that surround the entire perimeter of the Beestro. The modern industrial fixtures married with the rustic stained wood elements complement the Honey Bee Centres farming business and create a warm and welcoming environment.
“We have a beautiful farm property, incredible beekeeping tours for families, and now we have a place to sit and stay a while. People can come in for lunch and watch a beekeeper from their restaurant table or see the farm trucks and forklifts come and go throughout the day. It’s such a unique place to shop because you can see exactly what’s happening to produce the honey that you’re buying and we wanted to introduce this element of a restaurant to extend that experience.” – Operations Manager, Leanne Buhler
The Beestro offers a honey inspired menu filled with fresh salads, warm paninis and homemade soups. The menu has been designed by a team of foodies on staff and their two chefs. Together they’ve created a simple menu of favourites each with a delightful and surprising honey twist.
Whether you plan to visit for a late breakfast of freshly baked scones, muffins or homemade granola topped with the honey of your choice, or stopping by during the weekend of the Honeybee Festival, you will find loads of options on the menu to satisfy the entire family. Even your littlest bees will be delighted by the simple kids menu of grilled cheese, daily soups, and veggies, as well as apples served with a tasty yogurt honey cinnamon dip.
