Metro Vancouver’s Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) have been deployed to the scene of a murder at a Surrey residence.

On Sunday afternoon, RCMP were called to a home located in the 6900-block of 152nd Street after a body with gun wounds was found.

Neighbours reported that the area was cordoned off by police and that the victim was a grandmother who lived with her family. It is speculated that she returned home early after attending a community Sikh parade attended by thousands and encountered a robber, who reacted to her presence by killing her.

No other information has been released by police at this juncture of the investigation.
