RCMP investigate homicide in Burnaby

Burnaby RCMP is investigating following the death of a 45-year-old woman on Thursday, February 23.

The incident occurred at around 1 pm when officers attended the 7900-block of 18th Avenue after receiving a report of a female requiring medical attention.

Upon arriving, a 45-year-old female victim was found dead in the residence. A 47-year-old man was arrested at the scene shortly after police arrived.

“The information that is available to investigators at this time is limited,” Staff Sergeant Major John A. Buis said in a press release. “However it is believed this was not a random act.”

Police expect the area surrounding the scene will be cordoned off for a significant amount of time.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been called and will be working in partnership with the Burnaby RCMP.
