CTV’s Lynda Steele on Hollywood skin treatments available in Vancouver

Two buzz-worthy beauty treatments that are hailed as a secret weapon by Hollywood stars like Eva Longoria and Sharon Stone are available right here in Vancouver, and cost less than you might think.

The cold laser deluxe facial, available at Vancouver Cold Laser, costs $159. It’s a non-invasive and brightening treatment that A-listers swear by for red carpet appearances.

The treatment starts with a microdermabrasion session to slough off dead skin cells from the face.  The microdermabrasion is customized based on whether your skin needs detoxing, hydration or anti-aging.

It’s then followed by a red light cold laser treatment meant to regenerate collagen.   The pen device that’s waved over your face has an “ionization chamber” that promises a change in your skin at the cellular level.

Once the infared treatment portion concludes, a blue laser beam is used to kill acne bacteria.

Devotees of the cold laser tout benefits like smoother and firmer skin and a more even skin tone.

It’s recommended to do more than one session to see optimal benefits.

Another treatment making waves is the Oxygeneo treatment, which promises to give you younger looking skin in just 14 minutes.   Practitioners call it a “non-surgical” facelift that will produce new collagen while lightening your face.

It paints a combination of anti-aging ingredients like retinol and hyaluronic acid onto the face, and uses carbon dioxide to turn back the clock.

Next, an exfoliating wand with a special tip made of sodium bicarbonate magnesium and citric acid, is passed over the face.

The tip breaks down during treatment and causes the Co2 to bubble, which is when the high-tech magic starts to happen.

While skin is being buffed, the Co2 draws oxygenated blood to the skin’s surface.  Those bubbles are said to make the skin more receptive to anti-aging ingredients.

Oxy Facial

The Oxygeneo facial at Paris Clinique on West Broadway costs $150 a session and it’s recommended you have more than one to get the full effect.
