Holiday Afternoon Tea Service + After 5 Sneak Peek at The Urban Tea Merchant

The holiday spirit has arrived at The Urban Tea Merchant and there are two new features to make your Christmas food outings even merrier! Feast your eyes on the Holiday Afternoon Tea Service, and the new “After 5” menu.
The Holiday Afternoon Tea Service has three tiers of edibles of quality that will satisfy your taste buds; from savoury food to desserts.
As The Urban Tea Merchant is known for its luxury teas, the food is all tea-infused so it remains unique. The savoury portion of the menu includes:
- “Kukicha” braised beef
- “Lapsang Souchong” chicken cone
- “1837 Black Tea” marinated beets, goat gouda
- “Race Day” tuna tartare, quail eggs
- “Magic Flute” roast turkey breast, fig jam
- smoked salmon ribbon with ponzu jelly
The colorful presentation of the savouries shows that there is a high level of detail that is put into each creation. My personal favourite was the tuna tartare, as it tasted fresh with delicious olive oil at the bottom of the spoon.
Before launching into dessert; fresh baked scones and chocolate dipped Matcha Madeleines filled our appetites.
The dessert selection for the Holiday Tea service still stirs my memory. I highly recommend trying the “Miraculous Mandarin” salted caramel pudding first if you are getting full. It is neither too sweet nor too salty; the perfect taste of “salted caramel.” The layers of flavoured are evened out nicely, and there is a dash of black salt on top.
The other sweet selections include:
- “Red Christmas & Spice Route” fruit paté
- “Magic Christmas” butter cookie
- “Camelot” pumpkin tart
- TWG Tea macarons and fresh fruit
As usual, The Urban Tea Merchant comes out with seasonal teas to go along with the holiday, along with gift sets as well. This holiday’s featured tea is the “Magic Christmas Tea.” This blend of theine-free red tea is a great company while sitting at home or at gatherings during the holidays.
Additionally, The Urban Tea Merchant dishes out an “After 5” menu, for those who would like to enjoy light appetizers after a long, busy day. There’s nothing like sitting down, indulging in light bites, and sipping a cup of tea. One of the items that is part of the menu is the Seafood Trio.
The Seafood trio includes smoked salmon mousse, tuna tartare, and lobster medallions. To go along with them is an assortment of crisps. The different types of crisps changes the flavour slightly with each seafood.
The Holiday Tea Service lasts until Christmas time!
