Hockey Canada teasing new jersey and it will be revealed very soon

A new look appears to be coming for Hockey Canada.

With the World Juniors returning to Alberta this winter, with games in Edmonton and Red Deer, the Canadian national team seems set to don some new uniforms. Over the past few seasons, Hockey Canada has shifted away from using their classic logo in favour of a simplified heritage look at international tournaments.

Those days appear to be over, as Hockey Canada released a set of four teaser images for the new look on Monday morning, and it involves a lot of maple leaves and a return to the federation logo. It remains to be seen if this will be just one new uniform or a brand-new set of jerseys.

The new design is set to be officially revealed later this week, on Wednesday.

The teasers feature both red and black designs, but there is a noticeable lack of white as a primary colour. It will be interesting to see if Hockey Canada sticks with the trend of including a primarily black jersey as part of the national team’s identity.

You may be wondering why Hockey Canada doesn’t just use the set of jerseys that the national team wore at the most recent Milano-Cortina 2026 Olympics. After all, that design was just revealed and was only worn during the Olympic tournament; there is no way that it has already overstayed its welcome.

Those particular jerseys were designed specifically for the Olympics and were not allowed to feature the Hockey Canada logo as part of strict IOC rules. Due to this, Hockey Canada typically wears different jerseys for events outside of the Olympics.

There seems to be an appetite for Canada to change things up to help get them back on top in international hockey competitions. The Canadians haven’t won gold at either the IIHF Men’s World Championship or the World Juniors since 2023 and are coming off a devastating gold medal game loss at the most recent Olympics.

The same can be said for the women’s side, who also lost the gold medal at the Olympics and haven’t won the IIHF Women’s World Championship since 2024.

While they have had more success at the younger levels, most recently with the U18 men’s squad winning gold at the 2026 Hlinka Gretzky tournament in Edmonton this summer, there is an appetite to get all the national teams back to their former glory.

A new uniform won’t magically get Canada back on top of the hockey world, but it’ll certainly help switch up the vibe.
