Historic York Theatre Saved From Demolition

For years the historic York Theatre on Commercial Drive stood decrepit and remain another site for sore eyes as human neglect had set in. However, the often persecuted developers in this city have come to the aid to revive this heritage venue.

A collaboration between the COV and Bruno Wall of Wall Financial (the same developers of the now delayed project adjacent to the Olympic Village) has saved the York from the wrecking ball. In return Wall gets a full transfer of heritage density (equivalent to a 20 storey building) that can be applied to a future Wall project. Me thinks he might use that additional density in the development adjacent to the Olympic Village.

I think this is great and with Gregory Henriquez as the architect and is sure to be a gem of a building that will liven up this desolate and under utilized area.
