Gaming industry job fair happening May 1

Dec 19 2017, 11:01 pm

Local gaming startups A Thinking Ape and East Side Games are hosting an industry job fair on Friday, May 1.

The hiring fair comes as a result of layoffs from Japanese gaming company DeNA that recently laid off dozens of employees. In total, 12 game companies will be participating in the fair, of which 400 job seekers have already committed to attend.

Last year, another A Thinking Ape hiring fair saw nearly 600 people show up, with line-ups reaching around the block.

“We started this event 2 years ago after some layoffs affected our friends and community and we wanted to help. This will be the third time we’ve put on this event, and it keeps growing. This year some of our friends from DeNA were hit with layoffs and the timing was right for us to do it again,” said Tayber Voyer from A Thinking Ape.

Free tickets must be reserved in advance through Eventbrite. Currently, the ‘Mingle Only’ event is available but the ‘Industry/ Experienced Candidate’ and ‘Student/ Recent Grad’ events are sold out.

The Hiring Happy Hour takes over the Portside Pub on Friday, May 1 from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. The following companies will be there looking for their next great employees:
