If you’re travelling on Highway 1 this morning, prepare for some significant delays due to a vehicle fire on the Port Mann Bridge.
BC Highway Patrol (BCHP) says there was a collision on the west end of the Port Mann Bridge that led to a fire and traffic delays.
BCHP added that there were no serious injuries, but that it was investigating and working to clear the roadway.
At around 9:30 a.m., DriveBC was still warning drivers that the westbound left lane before Coleman Avenue was being closed as fire crews tended to the incident.
A short time ago, DriveBC provided an update saying that the left lane of BC Highway 7 westbound reopened, but that crews continued to work on BC Highway 1 westbound.
Fortunately, based on the updates from DriveBC, things seem to be loosening up fairly quickly, and it seems like crews should have the scene cleared sooner rather than later.
However, this is what the scene looked like earlier:
⚠️#BCHwy1 – the westbound HOV and left lanes are blocked before Coleman Ave due to a vehicle fire.
Crews are on scene.

“Highway #1 had to be completely shut down until the fire was controlled by Coquitlam Fire and Rescue. The highway is in the process of being gradually re-opened, but there will be westbound delays for some time,” BCHP said.
“The driver and lone occupant of the passenger vehicle appears to have minor injuries and the driver of the commercial vehicle appears to be unhurt. The cause of the crash is under investigation, but there are no immediate indications of serious criminality.”
Update:
As of 10:25 a.m. this morning, the incident has been cleared.
