High risk sex offender at large in Vancouver, wanted after failing to return to halfway house

The Vancouver Police High Risk Offenders Unit is asking for the public’s help to locate a sex offender who is currently at large.

Forty-four-year-old Darren Wheatley is a high risk sex offender who missed his curfew last night. He is wanted Canada-wide for breaching court imposed release conditions.

Wheatley is a two-time Federal offender currently serving a 10-year sentence for two counts of sexual assault, sexual assault causing bodily harm and two counts of overcoming resistance by choking, following three separate attacks on adult women in Ontario.

He was last seen on March 26th around 11 a.m. leaving his halfway house at East Cordova and Columbia Street in Vancouver.

Wheatley is Aboriginal, 44 years old, 6′ tall, weighs 200 lbs., and has a large build. He has short black hair and brown eyes.

Anyone who sees Darren Wheatley, or knows his whereabouts, is asked to not approach him and call 9-1-1 immediately.
