When you’re in the mood for something romantic and cozy, but also exotic and maybe a bit adventurous, head down to the West End and check out Morocco West. Last weekend, the Tangoo got a chance to take a trip to Morocco via our tastebuds. We escaped the dreary Vancouver weather, and visited this hidden gem, a Moroccan-European inspired restaurant in Vancouver’s West End.
Kevin Lin, the General Manager, and Nourdine Majdoubi, Executive Chef, opened this gem in May 2014. Since then, they have expanded their menu to include 20 tapas options – perfect for sharing. We tried a large portion of their tapas menu and were left wanting more.
About the food, Lin says, “A lot of the dishes are done with a European twist, like quail and rabbit, which you would find in Morocco, but not with the European flare we bring to the table.”
Chef Majdoubi is from Agadir, Morocco and has trained all over Europe, which led the restaurant to its name – Morocco West.
We especially enjoyed the Baba Ghanoush, Chicken Couscous, and the Honey Lavender Pannacotta.

In the next few months, Morocco West looks forward to welcoming new customers to brunch and dinner. They will be competing in the Fish and Chip Challenge on Thursday, September and will be presenting new tasting plates on Wednesday, September 10. Keep an eye out for their menu during Dine Out Vancouver in February.
