Hi-Five, Vancouver's tiniest grilled cheese shop, opens for lunch

Grilled cheese is a go-to staple for late night eats, but it’s also a crave-able sandwich anytime of the day. Hi-Five, Gastown’s tiny grilled cheese-only shop – well, really, it’s a window – has been slinging cheesy sandwiches for the nighttime crowds, but starting this week will open for lunch during the week.

Owned and operated by Corben Winfield (Six Acres, Ovaltine Café) Hi-Five has caused a stir among local food lovers since its wintertime launch earlier this year.


Inside the small 100-square-foot space Winfield works from a short and sweet menu of grilled cheese sandwiches ranging from $3 to $6. Customize by adding bacon for an extra $2, or get sides like tomato soup, pickles, and orange pop. For lunch, Hi-Five is adding salads and slushes to their menu.

Here’s a peek at the new lunch menu:

Starting Wednesday, July 8, Hi-Five will serve lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. Their regular hours are Thursdays 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. and Friday and Saturday 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.
