Environment Canada has issued a heavy rainfall warning for Metro Vancouver. 40 to 60 millimetres of rain is expected tonight through Thursday afternoon.

An intense low pressure system will develop off the west coast of Vancouver Island tonight and will weaken as it heads into northwestern Washington state on Thursday.

Rainfall amounts of up to 60 millimetres are expected for Metro Vancouver as the low moves by, with the highest amounts over the North Shore.

Significant rainfall amounts are also expected over parts of the east coast of Vancouver Island and Howe Sound. Environment Canada may extend the warning to these other regions, if warranted.
